I've been using Canon Photo Paper Pro in my old PIXMA IP-4000 printer for several years with very good results.

But it looks like I can't get it any more.

So I ordered a couple of packs of Canon Photo Paper Pro II from Amazon even though the compatibility list doesn't show my ancient printer any longer.

Instead they sent me Photo Paper Pro Platinum - which also doesn't list my printer.

I'm concerned because my printer doesn't use the "photo" inks like newer ones.

Anyone know the difference? I'm inclined to try the Platinum instead of sending the two packs back but I haven't opened them yet...

Not that I have bought from them but Canon's web site shows Photo Paper Pro II 13x19 .

Yep, and Amazon listed it too (in 8-1/2 X 11). That was Amazon-stocked. Which was what I ordered.

Today I see that the only listing Amazon has for this paper is an outside vendor. So I guess Amazon is out of stock or had an error in listing.

So I can get it, but there's no point if the Platinum is as good or better and works with the ink in my printer.

It's no big deal, just $37 for two 20-sheet packs, and I'd have to spend $12 on shipping to get a refund. I'll run some tests.

Just wondering if anyone knew what makes the Platinum different and if it's compatible with the older non-photo labeled inks. (Which are getting harder to find too.) Eventually I'll probably have to dump the printer, even though it works well, because I can't get ink....
