6 The gym...couldn't get centered better or closer to the court at the time because of TV camera guy in the way.

overall they look decent for action shots.

i noticed that they seemed to looked overly noise reduced and then sharpened.

Very nice for an older looking gym and no additional lighting. Good action, good focus ... my only nit would be to back down the saturation just a tad. Seems to really clean up the shots and focus some as well.

What gear did you shoot with to get such nice results? 40D and 85 1.8 all but on the last shot posted?

Thanks for the kind comments and advice guys, I'll give the pp advice a try next time out. I didn't really add any saturation to these, but I'll try taking some of it out of the RAW file before converting them next time or re-work these if I don't get a chance to get out again this season. I'm still trying to get the hang of the whole photoshop thing:-)

The gym's about 40 years old give or take a few, the lighting would be much better for photography if they'd leave all the overhead lights on during the game, but as you can see in the last one, they turn most all the lights except right over the court during the game (they have them all on before and after the game).

The gear used was my 40D and 70-200 f2.8L IS on all of them except the last. The last one was taken with the 40D and the Canon 10-22.

I like the action in all of the shots. I think #1 is my favorite (All Ball). I also like #6. I would like to try and get a shot like that, but my lens is too long and I don't a wide angle. Maybe next season.

<---- 25 year veteran sports broadcasting technician...

Just so you know, you'll have to work around TV cameras for the rest of your career. The higher you go (NCAA ---> NBA) the worse it will get.

TV is paying to be there and they usually will use that fact as a big ol' pair of pointy elbows that they'll throw whenever necessary.

Good looking work by you...
