The hack on my rebel has enabled the 1/200 flash sync speed. Now, how does this help me? When should I used this and when should I set if off?

It wasn't the hack that did it. 1/200 is the fastest shutter speed you can use with any flash which doesn't have a "high-speed sync" option, and that includes the interal flash of the DRebel. ...Leo
