This is obviously a very cheap lens and if it is worth trying to get fixed? Anyone ever get a similar repair from Tamron?

actually i just found out tamron is right here only a few miles from me. hopefully i can find some time over the next week to bring it in. on top of the focusiung, got a nice chip in the fiter ring.. definitely not fitting a filter on it..

You'll need to send it in for an estimate, and go from there. They will give you an estimate and then you decide whether to have them fix it or have it returned to you. Being in Long Island, they aren't far from you.
