Pictures first though, I guess. These were taken from the top of Haystacks, a diminutive 600 metre mountain in the Lake District which has got enough character to make it worth a wander. The second one is of Green Gable and Great Gable, from exactly the same spot as the first was taken.

OK, so the story. On 13 February 2010, I was sat on a lower summit of Haystacks when the guy in the first picture reached the summit (the one you can see there). He then came over to me and told me that he had just completed all 214 Wainwright mountains (there was nobody else around to tell, sadly, so it had to be me). That was his last one, he had done them all.

I should have told him about my deviantart at the time, but I didn't think this would come out particularly well because the sun was so bright; I now feel absolutely terrible that I didn't tell him, because if somebody had marked an achievement like that in my life, I'd want to know about it.

So, using the power of the interwebs, if you know anyone with a North Western accent who completed his first round of the Wainwrights today, with an ascent of Haystacks via Fleetwith Pike, please let him know that his picture is here :)

Whoever you are, well done my man

Cheers. I don't suppose he'll ever see it, but never mind. He made for a good picture :)

Three more from the same walk

My single best investment of 2009 was a bag big enough to carry an SLR with a 17-85 and the requisites for climbing mountains :)

OpenC,

Speaking as someone who has not done any of the Wainwright "walks", your shots are excellent, with the High Crag shot being my favourite.

Thank you :) Every time I'm up that way, I feel a huge sense of respect for the guy(s) who built the wall that goes up the side of that mountain. They earned their money that day :)
