no kidding.. I mean typically they dont open the gym until an hour and a half before game time, and they typically shoot baskets during the warm up time. I had the ladder set up- about 5 minutes until I could be done, and with the cables ready to go but the visiting coach came over and said that I was in their way for warm ups and that I needed to move. I was at the baseline about a foot behind the basket.. so i dunno.. it irked me a bit lol.

Yesterday they opened the gym right after school was over but I didnt know that so I arrived at my normal time.. URGH.

Here is that article.

Phil - ditto to what Dave said - can you post them a bit bigger to see better?

Do wish I could set this up for the college team this year, they have a few that can put on a SHOW. Just didn't have the time or half the stuff until recently just bought much of it for next year.

Thanks for your photos Phil, If you dont mind, can I see a photo of the way you have your safety cables?

Sure. Do you need a close up of the cables themselves or the way I attached them to the brace on the top of the board? I'll try to get a close up shot of the cable and fittings in the next day or two.

The cables were made at home depot. Just have them take a length of aircraft type cable and loop the ends. They have a crimping fitting just for that job. Then add either a screw link (like on the camera) or a quick attach link like I have on the cable itself.

BTW, if you look at the fifth picture closely, you will notice that I had to add extra black construction paper to my gobo. At wide angles, you have to be really careful about reflections. I took some pics to check the set up and realized my gobo wasn't large enough and had to quickly add the paper to block out more reflections. Initially, the reflections ruined the shots. Proper coverage from the gobo is really important. Thank God for gaffer tape.

I was scared to death even with the two safety cables. Five grand clamped up on the board made me mega-nervous. Plus, the boards in our gym really vibrate a lot more than I ever realized. Set up in an hour? It took me an hour just to set up the lights, get the ladder, and clean the glass. You must have been really hustling!

i was actually pretty comfortable with my set up even without the safety cables. Anyway, I wanted to see the close up of the way you have them hooked to the camera.. im assuming through the strap loops. I need to take a look at how you attached them there.
