I took a photo of a rocking horse out on Bolivar (Texas). I am trying to decide between the two. The first is the color version. The 2nd version I included a texture of old worn paper. Which do you prefer?

Wow, 41 people viewed the two pictures and no one had an opinion on which version they preferred. They are not that bad are they?

I'm not really feeling either one. In the color one the lighting seems kind of flat and the power pole and line running from it distract from the rocking horse. Any way to go back and shoot it at sunrise/sunset to get some better light?

It's an O.K. shot, but it's not one that I'd normally think was something I want to look at. :)
Your shot's not too bad, it's just a kind'a ho-hum shot, and I live in Texas, so I am familiar with those rocking horses.
Really, I do see what you are attempting though, so I like the second, it looks 'almost' like an older photo, and older photos can be faded and not very contrasty.
What I mean is, if you used another photo, it may have a different effect on us, that's probably why you didn't get much response, it may mean something to you, but not to some.
I mean that in a nice way, I'm not being rude. :)

On the first one, if you bumped up the saturation of the yellows, oranges and of the blues, and increased the darkness of the levels a bit, I think it would have more pop. On the second one, it could still stand a little more contrast, in my opinion.
