Got bored today

if you put a colored piece of paper in the background it will color the water in the same setup, which is neat.

I thought of that for a second, but i couldnt think of any color that would go nicely with the red tomato. I kinda like the white/greyish tones.

Well, that was sort of the exercise... I couldnt use the burst of my 50D, due to my $10,- wireless flash stuff... so timing was the key. Started of missing every single shot :P and toward the end of the session i nearly hit all of them .

I really like this, I think what you did is pretty danged good myself, it's clean, bright, colorful, and sharp.
Really, I wish you'd do another one, one with something that goes together more, besides a tomato, they usually aren't associated with a wine glass of water. heheh
What about a slice of lemon, or an orange, or put salt on the glasses rim and have a wedge of lime splashing into it?
(The latter would be best with a glass suited for a margarita though)
Play around with ideas that go with it, just have fun, because if you're 'just playing', it's actually VERY good stuff!
I don't know how proficient you are in Photoshop, but you could take a splash shot for the top splash, and the submerged splash, combine the two and see what that does for you.
(Without moving the camera though)
That's how a lot of product shots are done, (faked) not always, but I've worked on plenty that were done that way, and we'd piece them together to get the look the art director wanted.

I'd also make you a space that was away from your 'stuff' so you don't splash water on your monitor, and that kind'a thing, you never know. heheh

I feel what you've done is impressive, and I hope that you do another.

Thanks recrisp! Your remarks on trying something more fitting to each other are really helpfull. Didnt think of that myself (i guess thats a part that still needs some development in my photography skills)

I like the color of the tomato, at first though, I thought it was a red olive.

You can also take a shot of the glass and water, before dripping the tomato in, then one catching the splash. Then in Photoshop, merge them, to get the splash, but with no drops on the glass above the waterline.

I like your idea! Sure saves time whiping the glass all the time.

Thing is though, Most of the drops you see are actually mid-air :P. I Cleaned the glass after every shot, but some drops on the glass seem inevitable to me... But you tip sure helps!

Well, maybe it will look cool with none of the little drops there.

Nice simple setup, the best way.. I have those triggers.. Work pretty well if you ask me!
