I picked this up the other day and played around with it a little today. I built a dual illuminant profile using daylight and tungsten. The samples you see below are the results I got with the custom profile. Neither image has any PP outside of changing the camera profile. Both exported from Lightroom. The left is the Adobe Standard Profile loaded with Lightroom and the right is the custom profile. Thoughts?

***I did re-adjust white balance from one image to the other, using the same spot in both images.

Custom profile with my typical preset...which almost looks a little overdone to me now.

Both images shot with Zeiss Distagon T 21mm ZE

Update: Middle shot is with the SAME white balance as 1st image. Right image is with WB adjusted.

Why did you change TWO things, to ask us if we like the results of changing one?!

Sorry Wilt, but it was obvious the white balance was off (very little, but off), when changing the camera profile. White is white, but still there is a difference in the other colors.

Can you instead change the WB to the same value for both photos, then show that photo with the standard profile vs. with the customized profile? That would give us a single comparison (the profile) to assess!

Added the middle image, no white balance adjustment.

So let me see if I understand...

Left = original WB, standard profile
Middle = original WB, custom profile
Right = new WB, custom profile.

Have I stated that correctly?!

There seems to be better colored vegetation with the custom profile, and the rocks are reduced in warmth..more neutral toned. But some of that richness of vegetation color is reduced in changing the WB. In general I like the custom profile result better.

Yes, it is exactly as you say.

The thing I noticed immediately is the color change in the vegetation. I think the original white balance is a tad off however after the custom profile is applied. I would generally set white balance after import anyway, which would result in the RIGHT image. I think changing the white balance brought the rocks back more to the true color while keeping some of that richness in the vegetation.

Normally, I hit images with a little vibrance and saturation as well...but haven't done that here.

Here is a gallery with some samples of the various profiles I've created since I got my color checker passport for christmas: LINK (external link)

Most of the examples have Adobe Standard / Camera Standard / Custom XRite Profile / Custom Adobe DNG Profile. Personally, I think I like the profiles created by Adobe DNG Profile editor the best, the XRite profiles seem a bit too saturated to me.
