I would have bought a nice magnesium one or even moulded plastic if such a thing existed.

No I have to remove it to change a battery, but I used a tripod head QR plate to mount, so its takes a few seconds to mount/dismount and I dont need to change batteries very often anyway.
Its so light, but gives a superb bit of extra finger room and a nice balance in the palm of my hand. I have allways wished that slr and now dslr bodies came with a bit you removed to make use of a battery grip, especially now dslr's are getting quite heavy, but I guess canon etc marketing depts like selling battery grips to people with normal or larger sized hands who just need a better grip area.
