Does anyone have a recommendation for rechargeable AA batteries to be used in a Speedlite 430 and potentially a 530 (on my birthday wish list)?

I know there is no "one" perfect battery .. I'm more looking to determine if there is a certain buzzword or feature I should look for.. Thanks

Hello, I use Eneloops, they are low discharge type rechargeable batteries and hold their charge longer than normal rechargeable batteries. Don't forget to get a good charger, a bad charger will soon damage your batteries. I use a La Crosse BC-900, some prefer the larger/heavier Maha alternative.

I use Eneloop batteries and have been very happy with them. A set of 8 AA and 2 AAA batteries along with a charger and C and D cell adapters was not exceptionally exxpensive at Costco. I don't remember the actual price but, I think it was between $20 and 430.

I used to use Panasonic's and Duracell's, now I only use Eneloops. They're always fully charged when I need them to be.

Another Eneloop user here. I got the multi pack at Costco a while back and really like them.

Another vote for eneloops or powerex imedions, basically the same battery. The new Nizn batteries look very interesting though. They have a lot of power, almost too much because the recycle times are crazy fast.

Eneloops are the new "hybrid" NIMH batteries. But there are a lot of alternatives out there under different names. I use Kodak "precharged" NIMH which is the same tech but easier to find. They have them at walmart and target, etc. I could not find eneloops anywhere local. The Kodaks have been excellent.

That said, any high mAh NIMH battery should do well, it is just the hybrids hold a charge when not in use and the regular NIMH go dead within a couple weeks when they sit.

Powerex Imedions or Sanyo Eneloops. I have both and both work very well.

^ read that.

I use Sanyo Eneloops and Maha Powerex's. Eneloops keep their charge better, so I use those when I have to go out and don't have time/forgot to recharge the Powerex's.

Another eneloop user here. I'm kinda bummed that costco no longer carries them anymore! :(

I just switched to eneloop as well. Once they discharge I'm hoping my duracell charger will work fine for them.
