Thanks everyone. I ordered the batteries and a C801D charger.

Which Batteries did you choose? I too use the Eneloops. One word of caution: When they need recharging, you won't get any warning! The first time mine hit the "I need a recharge" level, it came with no warning. Flash still cycled on the last cycle just as fast as it did with freshly charged batteries on the first cycle. I actually started to panic and think my 580EX II was dead. I'm now getting more consistent flash exposures, and quick recycle times consistently. This is one of the best tips I have gotten off of the forums, great batteries!

Long story, but I ended up purchasing the POWEREX MH-8AAI-BH 2100mAh batteries.

If they don't meet my objectives they'll be relegated to TV remote duty and I'll order the Sanyos.

I would have ordered the Sanyos, but I couldn't find everything I wanted from a single retailer and I wasn't interested in receiving my AA batteries from one store, AAAs from another, and a charger from a third. That's my **** with Amazon these days - they don't actually stock anything.. They're just a middleman.

I ended up ordering from NewEgg as I found the batteries and charger available.
