Here are some of baby A from this morning that I have gotten around to editing! This was my first time using studio lights - at my friends house. One of her lights just broke, so we just had one light in an umbrella. I'll try to remember where the light was for each picture - please CC! Thanks!! All of these were taken with a 50mm f/1.8 lens.

# 8 is awesome!
What camera did you shoot these with, and why did you use ISO 500?

#7 and #8 are my favorites.

I would lower my ISO and use narrower apertures especially when shooting more then one person. Your images will be sharper with less noise. Nice job for your first time using lights

What camera did you shoot these with

*Don't kill me!* ...Nikon D90...

why did you use ISO 500

To be honest - I didn't know it was at 500. Oops . It's not something I really change very often. However, I did bump it up to ISO 500 because my camera is usually used for taking pics of the toddler I nanny for who is constantly moving! I used to always have the ISO around 200... but then my shutter speed was always that much slower, after a bunch of blurry pictures, I realized I could bump the ISO..... so I did, and then never changed it back.

For something like this (working with a pretty still newborn) - I probably should have lowered the ISO, because a slower shutter speed would have been ok, right? For a shoot like this - what would be the best ISO? As low as possible? Do these images look particularly noisy to you?

I would lower my ISO and use narrower apertures especially when shooting more then one person. Your images will be sharper with less noise.

Good call on the narrower aperture too... I should have switched that. So many things to think about all at one moment as you're trying to catch he perfect shot! Ahh... practice practice practice.........

Thanks for all the feedback!!

What kind of flash did you have to use? I was curious on how you shot with a light at 2.8 without blowing out the highlights.

#5 makes me laugh. You got some good captures.
