Lately I've been doing alot of "unconventional" photos to get me out of my photo funk! Gives me a new perspective.

Anyway here are a couple of experimental shots.

That funk must be something going around Tyger. I got it so bad I set up a light box this winter. :)

Are these bubbles in water shot from the top? Nice idea.

LOL! Hey dude...been awhile hasn't it? I've just started browsing the bird forums again. Man I haven't been out shooting too much these days, but I've been learning a lot about lighting since I'm focusing more on portraits.

Anyway, I read this on one of popular photography's mags last year using oil and water in one of those glass baking pans. I put news paper underneath with some various colors. I had one strobe light from above to light the scene. Lastly I used Kenko extension tubes with my Tammy 28-75mm.

Thanks for taking the time to look!

Yeah, it's been a long while. Glad your back. I never quite got use to the cold this winter and have pretty much stayed inside for most of it. I have learned a lot about light from using a light tent, and then a home made lightbox. I love it. It's impossible to take a badly exposed shot when you can control the light. :)

yes, excellent photo! Man...I need to learn about light immediately!
Are you taking classes (school or online) or just reading from a book?

Thanks all!

Jackie, I read everything online and books. The lighting was really simple, just a strobe with shoot through umbrella directly over a glass baking pan. Oil and water used and a Food Basics flyer underneath. I used my Tamron 28-75mm with Kenko extension tubes.
