Hey Folks,

Just keeping you guys updated about the new deep octa. Got a reply from Elinchrom:

Dear Peter,
You really had a close look to our product chart..

We are about three months away from the new Rotalux Deep Octa 70 cm.
If earlier it will be announced on our website.

Sorry to make you wait..
Thanks Thomas

Sounds very tempting - I'm stuck with Chinese New Year obligations so I haven't even had a chance to play with my new Quadra+DO combo yet as well.

I bet it won't have a grid!

Eventually, it will. Mr. Lighttools wrote in an email to me that they would be making fabric grids for all of the Rotalux modifiers with the exception of the 27". Of course, I have every expectation that the grids will cost more (probably much more) than the modifiers themselves :(

Wow...sounds downright exciting! I'd love a smaller (or even better....a larger) deep octa.

can't wait.

Mr_C, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Not bad for someone with under 10 posts. :D Happen to notice any other new products that they're coming out with?

While I certainly won't outfit all of my rotaluxes with grids, some of those grids will be spectacular to have (deep octa, midi, strips).

I wonder if they're planning on coming out with grids for the octa. I can't even imagine what the price would be.

Hi Jeff,

I'm happy to be making a contribution to the community. Haven't been doing photography very long, but I'm very detail oriented and a major gear head :D

As per grids - since I live in Shanghai, I will just design one and have one of the local tailors make it to spec for the Deep Octa. Hella cheaper and faster then holding out for the OEM. I will just show them one of the current velcro ones I'm using and figure out a way to fasten it to the front - maybe have them make a hood as well.

Up until now we're only had the 39" Deep Octa. The new one is a 27" Deep Octa.

Anyone know of any updates on availability? I'd really love to get my hands on one of these.

I'm trying to figure out their logic on this one. Why a 27"? It's close enough to the 39"...

I too would like to see a Parabolic 74" or even better yet a 10' 8" (Hey we can all dream right).

Broncolor did it.... come on Elinchrom, have another huge hit in the reflector field since 1982.

with a grid.
