I can't say that I'd ever seen a hummingbird nest before today. It took a little patience, but I got it. I scared her away at first but I waited and she came back about 10 minutes later. Let me get to the 1.5M minimum focus distance on my 70-200. Unfortunately this was the best angle that I had and I couldn't get a full body shot.
Since I'm actually traveling for a funeral I don't have a tripod or monopod, but I was able to use my gorillapod to brace inside by left elbow (lens supporting arm) and then on my chest as well as brace against a house to produce a reasonably stable platform.
