Maybe subscribe isn't the correct term here.

What I want to know: Is there a way for viewers to be notified (like via email) when I post a new photo to a gallery?

Thanks :D

I don't think you can, but I would love to know if someone has a better way of doing it the way I am now. I use Facebook to let people know when I have posted new photos.

Looking more into it, you can invite visitors. This is located under your logo. You can change the subject line, and the text in the email to say what ever you want. This maybe a way to let people know when you have added new photos. Maybe not the best or easiest way, but it would work.

Thanks for thinking through this.
I wish there was an easier method such as subscribe option; maybe in a future version.

Zenfolio has made a number of changes recently. I know there are more on the way. Not sure if what your looking for will be included but as mentioned you can currently send invites via email.

I don't personally use it, but I know zenfolio supports RSS feeds. Maybe you can do something with that?

Consider Exposure Manager. With their premium account, you can send out emails to people that have registered (Entered email address to log on) It's flexible enough that you select who to send it to based on gallery viewed so that it only goes to the targeted people. You can then track it's status, How many people opened it, how many then clicked on the gallery.

The way to “subscribe” to a gallery on Zenfolio is to click the RSS feed icon. It will notify you every time a new photo is added. This is what we recommend you tell your viewers. :)

Thanks for the feedback!
I'll get the RSS feed set up. (I noticed it doesn't work on "locked" galleries)

I have been a big reader of RSS feeds for years and it is my favorite way to keep up with most websites.

Just to be clear though, an RSS feed does not actually send out a notification to a specific person like an email does. The viewer must take it upon themselves to go to the site and subscribe, then to check their RSS reader when they want to see about an update. It is something that is easily done, but there are still people around who don't use RSS.

This is exactly my problem. I want to make a "family" portfolio. When I add new pictures of the grandchildren, an email would go out to aunts, uncles, grand parents, etc. notifying them that the portfolio was updated and they should look at it (link provided). Unfortunatley many of my family members, (me included) are not RSS feed savvy or we don't want to take that additional step. We all check e-mail every day.

I'm pretty sure there's a widget of some sort that posts that new content is on Zenfolio to your Facebook status much like flickr does.

I don't know how it works on Zenfolio exactly, but on Smugmug there's a way to integrate FeedBurner into your RSS feeds... I've got it set up on my website for visitors to subscribe, and when I post any new content, they get an email notification to the specific picture and the website. The emails aren't the cleanest (I'd prefer something much more simple), but its free and it was easy to set up.

Look at the bottom of my homepage to see what I'm talking about:
