I was at a wedding last week end and trying to get the bride , then brides maids comming down isle without some one leaning out in front of me doesn't happen .
I need / want a lite weight head that will support an XTI [Soon upgraded to T2i] w / 17-55 and grip . Prefer one that will take the 6 sided bogen . All 4 of the heads I have are to heavy
I want an extension for tripod to get above this problem again lite weight - I can make if no one makes them .
I have a gimbal head w / CF tripod that was just to ackward , put back in car before wedding .

The Manfrotto RC2 quick release plate is, by far, the best size and shape that Manfrotto makes for use with EOS cameras and related lenses.

I'd recommend the new 498RC2 ball head for general-purpose tripod work.

Thanks , I have the RC-2 , I don't really like it . I prefer the bogen 6 sided , then the RRS / Arca . I have 5 different style bogen QR's , the RRS , and other funky ones [Sima , velbons etc]
Since I already have a couple of RC-2 qr plates , I'll look up the 498rc2 .
Anytime I get a new / different QR - I get at least 2 plates .

What don't you like about the RC2 that is fixed with the 6-sided plate?

Isn't the 6-sided Bogen plate about the same size as the Rebel body?

Photography is a hobby . I set down my camera quite a bit . doesn't matter what lens I use , the camera tips over .
The 6 sided plate lets the camera almost sit flat as long as a hood is on lens .
The RC2 plates allows the camera to tip over and rock .
I can see why people like them - liter weight , smaller size [which allows camera body to slide around in camera case / bag easier] , they are cheaper to buy , easier to find , heads are smaller .
I have not found any adapters from RRS to RC2 or RC2 to 6 sided bogen , but I have one from 6 sided to RRS .
