What do you mean "lost" ? Do you have the ORIGINAL file straight from the camera? Some more details would be helpful ;)

The way to "retrieve" the data is to look at the original (or at least an earlier) version of the file. Once a file has been saved without the data the data is no longer contained in the file.

Not familiar with ACDsee, so not sure it would be stripping out the EXIF. But if that info is not in the file, you can't retrieve it.

I go into a MS-Word document and remove a paragraph. I then save the document. How would I get the removed paragraph back?

You surely have the original (prior to re-sizing) file, right?

Sounds like somewhere in the editing process, the EXIF got whacked.

Actually, Word can save a bunch of history and version info in the file so it's not the best example.

Why wouldn't you link back to your previous post? From your original post, no one could fathom that you were asking about a particular piece of software stripping metadata during editing.

OK.....You open a text file in Notepad. You remove a paragraph. You save it. Can you retrieve the removed paragraph? ;)

I wasn't getting worked up. I was coming up with an analogy about retrieving lost data in a file.

So do you have the original file or not? Folks DO want to help you, but you need to be clear in your questions.

"Can you retrieve lost exif info?"

No.
