Anyone who made the jump and regretted it?

To be honest with you I would think you would be happier with the 1dsIII based on what you shoot?

I am fixing on sticking with the 1DIII and adding a 1Ds of some kind here soon.

I miss my 1D3, I won't lie. It's an amazing body. Honestly, I gained very little in making the switch other than some great new AF features and AF point controls I really like. Image quality wise, the 1D3 does everything the 1D4 can do. Even at high ISO the 1D4 isn't that much better than the 1D3.

But am I sorry I switched? No. Just wish I hadn't sold my 1D3. :)

So far, the AF seems much better to me as far as keeper rate. High ISO performance is definitely a stop or two better than the Mk III, and that's handy for me when I shoot indoor sports. I like having the extra megapixels because I tend to crop a lot. I like having the video capability even though I probably won't use it all that much. Of course, I still have my 1D3!

The 1DIII certainly ain't no slouch.

I appreciate having more MP's, and I like some of the upgrades in the AF system. Video is a bonus I suppose. I feel I've gained about 3/4 to a stop of higher ISO. ISO12800 is now my "emergency" ISO, but depending on what you are shooting and output size, it's not so "emergency" actually...

Just overall a nice upgrade. Not super, but nice.

Oh, and one thing I really like is the combination of better ISO performance with the auto-ISO feature. Shooting indoor sports, I can shoot in manual mode with the aperture and shutter speed I want and let the camera choose the ISO for the right exposure. Outside, I can shoot in Av mode with the aperture I want and let the camera choose the shutter speed and ISO, knowing it won't choose a shutter speed too slow for the lens I'm using and will bump the ISO instead to get the right exposure.

And before anyone asks, the auto-ISO feature will only go up as high as ISO 12,800, even if you enable H1, H2, and H3. I think it should use the higher ISOs if you enable them, but it doesn't. Of course, being able to shoot at ISO 102,400 doesn't mean you should! It's kind of a novelty and cool to be able to get *something* in near darkness, but I'm not sure how useful it will be.
