Gotten a few Trojan Worms n the last 2 days. I narrowed it down to POTN. I think I'll stay away for a few days while someone cleans things out. Lens section. I did not pin it down to which thread, sorry. Really nasty worms at that.

Forgive my computer ignorance, but you can get a Trojan virus just from opening a thread ? I thought you had to open an attachment or download/run something? No, you can't. POTN is not compromised, and hitting an image shared in a thread, while it's possible to craft a jpeg that's designed to overflow a buffer and execute code, it's simply unlikely due to the huge variety in image processing code - no one exploit would work everywhere. Something else hit gasrocks and it didn't come from POTN.

Pekka El General Moderator More info | Feb 16, 2010 18:28 | #5 POTN can not really do anything if e.g. a linked jpeg is infected. That is why it is always good to keep virus programs up-to-date.

But I also have an industrial proof internet security too so I've been fine. Chris

Pekka El General Moderator More info | Feb 16, 2010 18:42 | #8 If you hit a trojan with opening an image, your virus protection should shout out warnings loud WHEN the image is loaded and BEFORE letting that image do anything. You really can't get viruses from a site some time AFTER you have visited it, so if you have no clue what thread it was on then it was not via POTN thread at all. The Forum Boss, El General Moderator
