Summer nostalgia, during these times of snow...
Took this series last July, had not gotten around to post it yet.
I wish I had set up the camera differently, so as to have a greater DOF - F 4. was a bit narrow obviously, but - I cannot shoot them again can I?
C&C welcome.
Thanks for looking.

1. Father and son (or daughter?)

2. Flapping his wings to ask for food.

3. Wait a minute son - I've seen something...

4. There were actually two youngsters at the same time, fed in turn by the father - did not see the female that day.
IMAGE: http://i607.photobucket.com/albums/tt158/GMHY/Young%20Cardinal/IMG_6649_cr_sm.jpg

5. Each youngster was fed in turn finally.

6. Classical position of the hungry fledgling I believe (confirmation anybody?).

I don't understand why this hasn't gotten a reply yet. Yes, the DOF is much too shallow and that's a pity, but this is still a lovely set.

Great behavioral series, Gerard. I've watched this with Cardinals and other species and it's always fun. The chicks are a hoot with there vibrating wings. Good shooting.

As Harvey said, the behavioral display is really very good. So interesting to see. Good set.

Very nice series. Is that Male still around your yard? I'd like to know what's wrong with his right foot.

Thanks Levina; as the French say, stating the obvious, "the apprentice is not a master" :)

Thanks Harvey, yes that was a good show; one of them came back alone the following day - I'll try to post pics tonight.

Right foot? I thought it was just a position of his toe.
I have two males coming over on a regular basis (I'm pretty sure because I see them together sometimes) - I'll try to check on this right foot thing.

It looks like an injury, but it could be Avian Pox, which I really hope it is not. Cardinals are really susceptible to pox and it's a killer. So I am hoping the same bird is still around and it's an ankle injury.

The two males I have seen recently seemed active and healthy - one of them has even already started to bother his female - I saw him last Sunday afternoon.
