Thought I'd share these pic's of a G35 a few of us Honolulu POTN members were messing around with this past weekend. We had what we call a BBQ Meet featuring ribeye steaks and roasted corn and when the lighting got just right in the late afternoon we set up the strobes and started having some fun with our Canon's.

1. Kaena Point on the Waianae side.

2. Some daylight strobing

3. Going for some mood

Very Nice.. no Ulua poles? Slide bait action. I like the first pic. Pictures of the food would have been nice too.

That's a nice series on it. I'd brighten up just the car in #3 a little bit.

greyhoundfan, I did have a 600L IS pointed at the moi hole a few hundred yards away toward the point, and there were about six ulua poles deployed at that time. However, I had to get cooking right away as I got to the site a little late and by the time I got through cooking, the fishermen had broke down camp and all the poles were gone.

Sounds like you're from Hawaii, so if you are and you're in town, check out the Honolulu POTN Hale thread in the POTN Members Activities category and see if we have a meet scheduled. You're more than welcome to join us. If not, it's a cool place to just hang out and chat.

And thanks for the kind words and suggestions. ;)

PhotosGuy, thanks for the compliment, and I will try out your suggestion to see what brightening the car up will do. Mahalo!

Your link addressing car lighting is excellent. Thanks for sharing those terrific tips and hints.

First shot is great except for the color .... a full CTO gel on that flash would have blended the light with the scene much better.

Great photo otherwise.

Thanks Bill, your advice is greatly appreciated. I've got sheets of green and CTO that I bought earlier for a project I did awhile back, and I will not get caught without them from now on. :D

Well..I used to live in HI, been away for 12 years now.. Live in San Diego. Fishing was one of my passions while there. I would certainly have joined your group, I can not pass up grilled rib-eyes. I know how secretive fishermen they might have stole your camera if they saw you taking pics of their moi hole..LOL.

Sweet series.. Full on equipment and cars all the way to Kaena Point. Was it for the grinds or the shoot? Give you guys alot of credit. Roasted corn- try boiling, soaking in teri sauce, then over the hibachi, and one last swipe with the teri sauce.... broke the mouth.

Great series. I was in HI for the first time in March 2008 and I wish I stayed longer. So many photo opportunities.
