Yes, the difference is THAT big. The monster Pentium 4 670 (clocks in at 3.8GH) gets less performance than the cheapest i3 processor.

I'm actually a little surprised that only the i7 really beats my system right now - at least within a price to performance margin. The high end i5 does a little better, but not enough to warrant such an expensive upgrade for so little return.

So, if you have a Q6600 or higher, you should probably wait a little longer to upgrade and then only to the i7 or i5 750 (if even that). My 9650 seems to still be hanging in there

Maybe it has something to do with the fact that the pentium 4 is the worst processor ever made? LOL
