Check this out. Following on from the ping pong ball idea. I wanted something that was more reslient to pocketing.
I made this from one of those night light plugs you get for childrens rooms. I took the semi-opaque cap off and trimmed it so that the screw holders either side of the cap will now sit either side of the S90 flash unit instead to hold it on. It's a little tight but it works well!

The only downside is if I forget to take it off before I switch off or turn the flash off I could do some serious damage. It fits VERY snug (Just a little too snug for my liking but beggars can't be choosers).

Anyhow here are the results.

With it on.

What it looks like.

This is without the diffuser. As you can see the shadows are harsh and the Lensmate filter adapter casts a shadow at the wide end.

Now with it on. As you can see it not only softens the shadows, but it near enough eliminates the shadow cast from the Lensmate filter adapter! It casts a yellowish light but it is easily correctable in Lightroom as I have done so here.

hi Dick. have you done anything recent with this? i'm looking specifically for macro shots if you have any.

i was messing around with the flash settings and put it on 'minimum' for this shot, where my hand is only four inches away... no blowouts. in the background are 32" and 7" televisions.
