The guy who was selling here on DC Craigslist a month or two ago (5D Mark II + a couple of L lenses for $1200 or so) had gone to meet his parents in Detroit when I contacted him. may be he's the one! Now he'll tell you he's back to DC and therefore, he'd like to exchange via DHL!!!

Obviously this email looks like a fake CL post. I've bought and sold a couple of hundred items on craigslist and can usually spot a fake right away. The best way to avoid these are CALL the person and MEET in a very very public place. When dealing with expensive items take a buddy.

There was a Nikon D70 in my local craigslist today for $450. Supposedly came with a 50 1.4G, and the 70-300 VR lens. Says to look up the lenses on wal-marts site to see how good of a steal this deal is. Sweet deal but as always too good to be true. Was planning on buying it and reselling to make some cash for a new lens. Called the guy set up the meet. He shows up with a D70, the 18-70 kit lens that sticks at 50mm, and the 70-300G lens. What a waste of my time. "Oh, I must have wrote it down wrong in the ad," he says. Yeah you did, he was hoping to pull a fast one on somebody. I'm not the one.

Why does all this stuff happen in Idaho? :D

Actually, this is a daily sport in most major cities (I travel the east coast, and spend part of my down time trolling the local CL for deals). Not surprisingly, I got the exact same response from our friend above with the 1DsM3 (I guess it's easy to copy and paste).

There are good deals out there - you just have to weed thru the nonsense.

Good hunting!
