They don't do anything for me. I like what you tried to do in the first image with the rider at the drop in and then on the rail but it looks like he is almost standing still and squatting on the rail. Maybe a different angle, slower shutter to show some movement or being on the front side to see his face would have worked better. Keep shooting!

I personally like them, I am no pro, but also enjoy shooting snowboarding, and the first one just screams steez. Very nice

Sorry I am going to choose to be nice. I really like the first shot although would like to have seen a third image after the rail to show the full sequence but its still pretty cool.

I feel quilty for not providing anything constructive or helpful so I will add some comment which I received from the editor of Huchmagazine during a TTr shoot this year (check out my blog for the links).

With snowboard shots, try to make sure that there are no lines in the background cutting your subject in half, try to catch the faces and emotions of the rider or of the spectators, grabs need to be fully extended, pictures of the rider landing or with their hand just leaving the grab or about to grab the board will be thrown out, try to capture board flex either whilst in a grab or on a rail, the editor didn't tell me that but I just find board flex a really "sexy" moment haha

Hope these quick, simple tips help a little, if not you then perhaps another reader.

The shots are fine. The problem lies partly with your subjects. Without a doubt it is easier to get an impressive sports picture when you are shooting truly impressive subjects. I do some mountain bike event photography and for some reason... the shots of the guys who are world champions always seem to look better than the average Joe out on the course.

These rails you are shooting look like fun but they are not exactly x-games material. I think you did well with what you had to work with. If you could have had unlimited access and got in really close with a wide-angle or something you could have turned out more impressive but from where you were and what you had to work with you did just fine. Your choice of processing on the first image turned a very Average image into something worth looking at.
