This was taken the day after the series "Young Cardinals fed by Dad", here:
https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=828199

I did not see both fledglings together that day, and not later either...
#1 was taken first, around 45 minutes before # 2 and 3; not sure if it is the same bird.
C&C welcome.
Thanks for looking.

1. I remember he spent time contemplating some remains of sunflower seeds, not seeming quite sure what to do with them.

2. He (or his brother?) came back later to a different place on the railing, studying the offer....

3. Finally started to eat some seeds alone - no sight of his father around. (OK, I embellish the story a bit as #3 was actually taken before #2...)

Very nice. I don't think I've seen one at that age before.

Nice set of shots. I have noticed the same thing here. Once a parent brings them to the smorgasbord, they show them how to open seeds for one day, and that's about it. After that they are on their own. They all seem to make it though, even the Cowbird babies. LOL

Thanks for the comment Mitch. These are the only fledglings I have been able to spot though... maybe next summer?
