This looks great. How much editing did you do to take out the refection of the lights?

not much really here is the shots before i took it into PS to work on the reflections with final being the top one

Wow that's pretty amazing. I figured you would have some hot spots from the lights reflecting.

I need some opinions on this photo. The customer doesn't like it because he thinks the colors are too muted. He took a photo with his phone from a different angle, and from that angle there was a gold tint on the car from the sun's reflection. My angle didn't capture the gold tint except for the very front which I corrected to match the rest of the car because it looked weird that just the front was gold and the rest was grey. I hope that make sense. What do you think about this photo? Are the colors to muted, or is it ok?

I see some blue from the sky in the body. Is that what you mean? Otherwise, gray is gray, no? You might bump up the contrast a little, which might make him happy. But...

First, if he doesn't own the building, why did you use that awful background when you had a clean background a little bit to the right?
Second, the colors would pop more against a darker background. For instance shooting toward the east at dusk with the light coming from the sky behind you. Take a look at POST #30 in this thread: A few Car Lighting Tips
The gray bar at the center is the same density all the way across & the darker background makes the bar look brighter against it.

Was the customer paying? I've had people shoot with their phones right next to me before while shooting their cars and it's like "what are you doing?". The majority of the time what they think looks good (or is acceptable) is complete garbage. They simply don't know any better.

If they aren't paying, they have zero say in how you edit/shoot/compose your photo.

If they are paying, then just politely explain to them why you did it that way and that it's your artistic expression. You should post the cell phone shot here for references.

Also, I like the muted colors. The Ferarri is silver to begin with..it should stay silver in the photo.

Thanks for your help. I don't think the blue is what he's talking about, I think he has an opinion of what the color looks like in the sun, and this doesn't match that opinion. I just don't think what he sees with his eyes is translating to the photo. I'm just not sure how to correct it. For the background, everything from the edge of the building to the right of the photos is composite from another photo. The original photo had more building with telephone poles and wires in the background. This shoot was last minute and I had to find a couple of spots that would work without time to research a better spot. The same with the time of day. This is the only time I had. Again, thanks for your help and input, I appreciate it.

He's not paying me, the shop that worked on the car is. I'll see if I can post the cell phone pic.

Think about building up a file of backgrounds, & for that matter, a group of locations for those last minute requests for images. Just because the "client" is in a rush... ; )

You can post a link to it, but not an image that is not yours.

I would have shot it from slightly lower, and further left...

I would also have put it in front of the 'building' (using the building as the backdrop), but further away and shot it with the 100-400...

You're absolutely right. I just haven't done this because of the time involved. I need to quit being lazy, and just go do it.

I think your angle may have been better, too late now. I couldn't have used the 100-400 though, I don't have a lens like that yet.

The iphone photo he sent me as an example was from basically the same angle as this. You can see the sun leaves a gold reflection on the car. I personally think it looks a little weird sense the parts of the car not in the sun are grey. I can't get this with the first photo though, because the angle is so different. I haven't sent him this one yet, but I have a feeling this is what he's wanting....
