The iphone photo he sent me as an example was from basically the same angle as this. You can see the sun leaves a gold reflection on the car. I personally think it looks a little weird sense the parts of the car not in the sun are grey. I can't get this with the first photo though, because the angle is so different. I haven't sent him this one yet, but I have a feeling this is what he's wanting....

Those colour changing metallics are a pain.

The only way I can see you getting the gold would be if your strobed the car and therefore had complete control over the light. At the moment you're wrestling the blue ambient light coming off the building and the gold from the sunlight and you're right, it looks disjointed.

My approach to the paid gig scenario is that you need to take control of the situation. It's your reputation on the line if the photo's dont come out well, and frankly I walk away from shoots that I know I won't excel at.

If they aren't prepared to trust your experience and skills, then it's not worth it IMO because neither party will be happy with the result.

Thanks. I'm hoping when I show him the ones with the gold, he'll see how they look better without it, but I'm not holding my breath...

I like prefer the lighting on the first image, but I really like the warmer light, too… Silver cars are so bland, and the lines on that particular car aren't very flattering on their own - IMO, of course.
Don't get me wrong, your images are excellent. I just get more emotion from the differing light (I dig the flare, too).

Completely off topic, but Ferraris should be red. All of them. :)

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad this one wasn't red, besides black, red is the hardest too shoot.

Two of my favorites from a couple of years ago at our local car shows.
Shot with my old T2i, I love that camera.

Pretty overprocessed, especially the sky. Distracts to much from the car itself.
