These images were shot with a single soft box that I used, handheld. As the EXIF shows, the exposure was 4 sec. the camera was on a tripod and I was able to walk around the vehicle, between the vehicle and the camera, and light paint with the soft box. Kirk

As the EXIF shows, the exposure was 4 sec. the camera was on a tripod and I was able to walk around the vehicle, between the vehicle and the camera, and light paint with the soft box. In some composite images I made, I combined a base shot like these with additional images where I lit portions of the vehicle I wanted to accent- I combined these images with the base image to effectively get the results of a multi-light shot. Moving the soft box across the vehicle also provides more diffuse light from a seemingly larger, softer light source. See the large lit area on the floor, for example. It is that large because I walked an arc from left to right, across the vehicle. I used a 24x36" soft box and the images were shot in a dark storage building. Kirk

kirkt Cream of the Crop More info Post edited over 6 years ago by kirkt. (2 edits in all) | It is a Wescott 36x48 softbox with a continuous light, six lamp head. The head originally came with high CRI CFL bulbs, but they are fragile. I replaced them with LED units from Home Depot. The head has three switches on the back so you can switch power to pairs of bulbs, permitting control over the light output and exposure in the above use case. Kirk
