That looks much better to me. Good effort!
Biggest problem is that the clouds tend to show in the highlights, so for me a clear sky with the sunset works better. And think about using an angle that puts the sunset colors in the side.

I do have a shot with the sunrise light hitting the side. I just have to get to it :) The location is has its challenges, even though it is signed no vehicles there is nothing to stop you from driving out to the pier. I'm sure I'll get kicked off one of these mornings.
