I think you will find that most here do not connect the camera to offload pics. Instead they use a card reader as it is a) faster, b) easier, c) doesn't require camera battery power and d) allows you to keep shooting while pics are offloading. Mike, The Keeper of the Archive

Mine worked automatically after I changed that. That's a printer protocol. Doesn't help if you want to use RAW or tether I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Doesn't help if you want to use RAW or tether I'm not sure about tethering but I can transfer RAW or JPG no problem. With communications set to "normal" (the default) I can't get the computer to recognize the camera at all.. I don't have this issue with my 30D or the XTi that I had, just the 20D. You need EOS Utility and the canon drivers for that to work. 20d has no x64 drivers. I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. I know CANON doesn't have any drivers, but Windows recognizes the 20D, at least for me to transfer files (JPG or RAW) through my USB cable. It only works when set to PTP though. I'm running Win7 x64 and have a 20d, do you?? Sony A6000, 16-50PZ, 55-210, 35mm 1.8 OSS

Point is: Completely pointless to use it, just use a damn CF card reader, it's much faster and causes less problems. The only reason to ever connect a camera to a computer is for tethering operations, and that's not possible in x64 systems as is.
