I purchased a set of 6.5' stands and 32" umbrellas from a local CL seller and the kit comes with a bracket that holds the umbrella and what appears to be some sort of modeling lamp that is built in - no coldshoe mount. I know that I can use a coldshoe shoe-umbrella bracket on the light stand, but is there a specialized bracket or clamp that I can use to attach the flashgun (285HV with Cactus trigger) on to the shaft of the light stand, or even the umbrella shaft so that I can use the modeling lamps if/when I want to? The latter may be dangerous from a weight standpoint I realize, but in messing with it tonight (using velco straps that let it slide down the umbrella shaft!), it did not appear to make the setup top heavy. I do not think I would use the modeling lamps often, but it would be nice to have the option.
