I was just curious, I recently purchased a 7D. So I'm still learning. I have been using spot metering and AF servo, and I have had good luck with that set-up so far. I try to stay around 3200 ISO, and that is probably just a habit from my other camera.
When I shoot sports, as I previously mentioned I used evaluative metering and AI Servo. The center point expanded focus seems to work well for me as well. Of course the bottom line is to find what works for you.
I have to shoot at 4000 to 5000 ISO in the gyms I shoot in, so I can get the exposure right in camera because I am not very good with PP. I think I have only shot in 1 gym where I could get 3200 ISO with an f/3.2.
I'd be very happy with shots like those Chris. I don't always get both the player, and the ball in focus. I may have to "steal" your settings for the next game? I think your shots are great. I've been using my 85mm f/1.8 but I might try the 70-200 next time? Peter

I am definately happy with these shots. I think it might be as good as I can get shooting ambient and the way I look at it as long as the parents and players are happy, I'm happy. But that doesn't mean I don't want to improve because I always more critical of the shots and want to improve.
I love shooting with my 70-200. The only issue I have is I can't get under the basket to shoot inside because even @ 70 it is a bit long. I find I have to sit about 3 feet off the base line and about 3-4 feet in from the sideline to get shots with the entire player in the shot.
Thank you for the comments.
these indoor BB shots alone has made me think about 7D already. So clean at ISO5000. And focus so good! Great Shot by the way. Can't imgine shooting 3200 and still be having clean pictures, but WHAT!? ISO5000, That just a wow!
Thank you. When I started shooting sports, I used my Xs and quickly graduated to the 7D. I love this camera and even though I use light NR, I would be happy posting ISO 5000 straight out of the camera.
Thank you all again for the comments.
