Correct.

Nor do you want to dunk it in a vat of 'Simple Green'. Bad juju.

it's sealed, not proof. I know folks that have had their 1D's dunked in water with no damage, but purposely putting it under running water is pushing your luck

The National Geographic and Middle East war guys take spray bottles of water (old Windex bottles and the like) to clean off their cameras. They're shooting where there are no camera rentals nearby and trust the sturdiness of the 1D bodies.

This is how you do it. I wouldn't try that, but I guess its possible to do from the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bma0EZRO1QY (external link) Really if you know its going to get muddy/dirty I would just stick it in a plastic bag and have the lens sticking out the front or buy yourself a rain cover like the Think Tank Hydrophobia http://www.thinktankphoto.com …ia-70-200-rain-cover.aspx (external link) or the Aqua
Tech http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ORT_Rain_Cover_Navy_.html (external link)

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

A towel should work, but I have seen folks cleaning with spray bottles as well, seems to work =/

I use a wet towel, though I've been out in heavy enough rain to resemble being in a shower with it.

Even though the 1D is sealed, I just don't see the point to push it to its limit purely for showing it off...
