I have significantly downsized my lens line up since last years wedding season and now I am feeling the stretch.
Current line up (All Canon)
24-70 2.8
70-200 2.8 IS
35 1.4
50 1.4
85 1.2
1D III
5D II

I sold my 100mm macro before the new one came out to get a jump on the influx of used 100mm macros (got $525 for it)
I need a macro lens and the 24-70 is really not cutting it (even on the 1D III)
But I feel like I need a fast wide angle (24 1.4 II) or an even wider angle 16-35 II

I really should spend wisely and I'm willing to lose one from my current line up to make the range work better. I am much more partial to primes then zooms too.

What I really want but can't afford is to trade the 24-70 + money for a 16-35II, buy the 100mm L and down the line get the 24 1.4.
I just know I can't get rid of the 24-70 without getting the 100mm.

Thoughts? I primarily shoot weddings so take that into consideration.

My complements on your discriminating choice of equipment (see signature). I personally don't do that much macro but when I do I use either the 24-70 or add the Canon 500 close-up filter to the 24-70. It gives decent results, but obviously not in the league with the new 100L macro lens. Like you I shoot weddings (and some sports) and the next lens I'm considering is the 135L.

1DX MK II, 5D MKIV x2, 24L II, 35L II, 50L, 85LIS, 100LIS Macro, 135L, 16-35LIS, 24-105LIS II, 70-200LIS, 100-400LIS II

My Assistant has a 135 and it is probably the sharpest lens I have ever used.
