Hello,
Where is the cheapest place to buy a Canon battery for a 1Ds mkII? In Canada they want $240-$270 for a battery, like that is gonna happen! I appreciate your insights in this matter.
Thank you.

I don't live in Canada but Amazon ships to Canada right?

Since the batteries for the 1D2 series are not chipped, you may want to look at third party batteries like those made by Lenmar or Black Diamond.

Yes they do, I have looked at B&H as well as Amazon and both places are much cheaper than here in Canada. I am trying to determine where many of you buy your batteries and at what price. The cost of batteries up here is outrageous. Thank you.

Hi TaDa,
I was looking at 3rd party batteries but have read differing accounts of what they are like. Because I have to import them I felt if I got OEM there should be no quality control issues.

As i posted the OEM ones are $130 USD from amazon. Although with how cheap the third party ones are, getting one as a test isn't a bad idea IMO.

That isn't a bad idea madman, I may just try that to see how it works. If I'm not satisfied I can always sell it and recoup most of the cost. Thank you.

Go third party - or "aftermarket" as some people like to call it.

Newegg.com (external link) just type in the type of battery you are looking for. In my case the Lemar (external link) equivalent is $40.00 and their well reknowned for their fast standard shipping (usually 3 days, so don't pay extra unless you need it overnight or next day ) and excellent customer service.
