To users and owners of the Canon 100-400 f5.6 - confirmation seeked!

I have got the 100-400mm for almost a month and I love it. Very sharp as far as I am concerned as it is very much sharper than using a 2tx with my 70-200 f2.8.

However I noticed that there are oily finger print stains on the black plastic lens hood. Tracing to the source I found that it came from my left palm and fingers which I use to support the lens and push and pull the barrel.

Is this normal or there is a leak in the seal. I live in the tropics and temperature are 30C and above most of the time (but the lens and camera are shaded).

Thanks and hope I receive some comments on this.

.

Just on the lens hood? its probubly from your hands

Truthfully, the Canon lens hoods made of that shiny plastic collect oil like its going out of fashion, its likely just your own body oils showing up on it...

Agreed. Canon hoods pick up that kind of thing very easily.
