Thanks
I would really of liked a shadowy figure in the picture or somebody in a long mac and fedora, smoking a cigarette

I did ask the GF nicely, but she moaned it was too cold out
She just doesn't care about my art :rolleyes:
:lol::lol::lol:

Todd - that Valley View shot is really cool. Kinda wish I would have gotten my butt out of the car for that... You def had a better comp than mine on that RT shot.

Did you do this with one of those steel wool pads? I hear they give off a shower of sparks when you light them on fire. At least I think it's steel wool that does this.

I really like that Challenger shot Todd, but won't all those sparks leave burn marks on the paint?

Thanks guys..yes, the sparks could potentially leave marks... however, we tried to minimize it as best as possible by arcing the sparks path to send the shower over and past the car... however, even doing so, there was fallout on the car. The owner was watching very closely to see if any damage occurred and we felt like it was doing okay so we continued for several attempts finally settling with what you saw in that shot.

If anyone attempts this, I recommend being very careful as you definitely can cause damage (not to mention to yourself, since we're talking about hundreds of small burning chunks of magnesium here). 8-)

I might suggest a grinding wheel with the safety shroud off and a soft metal nail also being able to pivot the wheel left and right while you're doing it. This might be a bit safer even with the saftey shroud removed. :)

But still a cool effect the way you did it.

Do they have a battery powered grinding wheel?

Todd, how were the sparks formed? That looks like something a large grinder wheel would do.

Arthur, the sparks are actually lit steel wool. A grinder might work, but I don't know that you could get as large of a spark cloud with a grinder... or at least it would probably need to be a large grinder as you said.

This is easier because it's two things (chain and steel wool pads) of which can easily fit into your jeans pocket.

A chain...? Being a welder for a few years in school, I'm embarrassed to ask, what are you talking about? :)
