These following pics are ones I took in less than ideal light. I know I should have at least used fill flash, but this is the best I could PP them in lightroom. Not very pleased with them. I mainly want the skin tones to look right, but maybe that's not possible with the yellowish street lights. As you can see some I PP'd to be a little more magenta and some a little more yellow.

Could you guys give me some advice about how I could have made these shots better? Also, how you would have taken them without flash. (I don't like using the built-in flash...maybe I'll look into a pop-up diffuser for it).

I'm pretty sure I shot around iso5000, f/1.8 or 2, and possibly 1/60 or so shutter speed. I think I realized that 1/50 shutter speed for a 50mm lens isn't quite fast enough for me in all situations

I could even post the RAW files if anyone is willing to have a go at them.

What I SHOULD do in the future is use a flash/diffuser....expo​se for the background....underexp​ose for the background a little?

One last thing....does the lens itself have anything to do with autofocusing ability in low light? Could an older f1.8 prime lens perform worse in AF ability than a newer generation 1.8 lens?

Maybe you could try using a Canon instead :P might get better results... haha, this is a Canon lens forum after all.
