Thank you. Here is my take on it. These bridges were made before the advent of automobiles, when the primary mode of transportation were horse carriages. Apparently, the horses were terrified to cross the bridges. So someone came up with the bright idea to cover the bridges and make it seem like they were entering their stable. I could be totally wrong of course :)

now I think they are maintained as tourist attractions.

Lol. We shall not speak about it then!

Thank you for the information. Makes more sense saving bridges rather than horses. :-).

Maybe those teenagers should be made to rebuild the bridges they managed to burn down. Would teach them a lesson - in building bridges, that is.
