? about IMatch and IPTC data

Based on what I've read about IMatch -- can it retrieve/search based on IPTC data already stored for an image (i.e., by keyword)? Are there other image management programs that also have this capability? I have CompuPic (which, as noted in my earlier post, is regularly crashing now so I'm about ready to bail out) -- and it does not seem to have this capability.

While waiting to choose an image management program, I thought at least I could add keywords through breezebrowser to the IPTC fields.

You can add IPTC data to your images and manage the catalogue using iMatch. You can also do this with ThumbsPlus, which you said you didn't want to get.

I've used both programs and decided on T+ because it's much more straightforward to use than iMatch. iMatch is very sophisticated and has lots of features - a user manual that's 300 pages long should tell you that.

You can download an evaluation version of iMatch. As I recall it's 20 bucks cheaper than T+, but I spend sometime time playing with before making a decision.

Thanks for the info. The fact that Thumbs Plus does this also is worth considering. I believe it's probably got a better learning curve from what I've read about IMatch. At this point, I'll probably have to just bite the bullet and spend the extra $$$ if it suits my purposes -- after all, if it's something that I won't use or is frustrating it won't be worth the cost savings. Right now I'm just very frustrated with CompuPic.

Thanks for the recommendation of Thumbs+. I decided to download the trial and am very happy with it. Yes, it'll cost me, but it's very intuitive yet there are loads of features that I can learn for future use. Between it and Photoshop (and I also use Breezebrowser), I can see that the workflow will be much better.

Canto Cumulus 5.5.2 supports batch IPTC editing and IPTC-searching. It think it is one of the best image management software for Macs. PC version is also good. Cumulus hasn´t got any image editing capabilities like IMatch and T+ has.
I think those three are all very good choices for an image management software. Cumulus costs about 90 euros so its more expensive than Imatch or T+.

Thanks for the info. Does Cumulus have a setup to connect to an external image editor from within the program? That's I've been using anyway with the thumbs+ to bring up Adobe.

Also is Cumulus "user friendly." I stayed away from IMatch for the primary reason that it would be relatively complex for me to set up, etc. (though I clearly understand that it's a great product and very powerful).

Yes. In my opinion it is "user friendly" and not so difficult to learn as IMatch.
User interface is quite similar to T+: Simple but powerful.
