Hey All!

Some of us "veterans" of the Seattle meetup on February 6th have been discussing one for Portland in late Spring or sometime in the summer.

There are several potential "targets" for photo ops, including the two major waterfront events of the summer, the June Rose Festival and the 4th of July Waterfront Blues Festival...

But the Portland Saturday Market has come up as not only fun but active every Saturday from March until Christmas. It is an open-air thing right across from the waterfront where a large area is devoted to food and crafts booths and there are generally a couple small music performance areas (one in the "beer garden") and there are generally plenty of street performers and a lot of colorful people to make for some fun street photography.

So, all of you Pacific Northwest folks, chime in! Subscribe to this thread, and add your voice if you want to get involved. If you have a preferred date, or one that you can't make it to, post here. I'm wide open, we could even do more than one if the idea catches on. for now, think late Spring or early summer for the Saturday Market.

The five of us who met in Seattle had a lot of fun! Here's the link for the meetup and ultimately a bunch of photos:

I'm in Tony, I say the sooner the better, it's a lot of fun swapping gear, meeting the folks you banter with online and hanging out with others who love to shoot. I'm thinking maybe April, Saturday Market, lots of great street shooting....Anyone else game for April sometime?

Great! Two in and a zillion to go!!!

Well, I'm going to get PMs out to people who I've noted live in the area -- I figure the more the merrier. Some folks who live down here have expressed their regrets at not making the Seattle meet, so we should have some kind of showing. Pass the word!

May is typically a nice month around here, which should work for the Saturday although I don't know how busy it is in May unless a nice sunny day will bring people out like happened in Seattle.

Well, chime in with thoughts and dates all, and we'll git 'er done!

Hey, the body count is growing! We'll keep updating things from here. We'll coordinate with Matt who'll be coming from Seattle so we'll probably meet late morning (in Seattle, I came from Vancouver and Geno came from Vanocuver BC, so we met at the Tukwilla Transit Center at 11:30 AM and it worked well -- we might consider the Lloyd Center Park and Ride for this).

Let's keep up the input!

I just caught that you mentioned April, Matt -- I'm perfectly fine for that if the fair weather here holds out -- we definitely don't want to hit the Market on a rainy day:)!

I should be able to make it. I'd definitely like to, as long as nothing else comes up on the chosen weekend.

April, May, whatever works for everyone....Lloyd Center is fine, not exactly sure where the park and ride is there but no worries, must be right next to the freeway there for the trains I'm guessing? That's what GPS is for I guess:)

I don't think it's an official park and ride -- it is a huge parking lot that includes the big theater and is across the street that borders the south side of the Mall, with the Max light rail station right past it at the park right next to the parking lot.

I'll try this link to Google Maps:

It worked -- you might need to scroll out a bit to see the I-5 connection. the gray square with the Lloyd Regal Cinema in the middle of it is the parking lot.
