Avatar question?

I want a new avatar but when I go to change it, it says my file size it too big. I made it 80x80 but it says the KB's are too high. How do I lower those to 8.0 KB, using Photoshop, so that it matches the requirements?

This is what is comes up with when I press Save Changes:

"Your file of 10.3 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 8.0 KB for this filetype."

Open the file and 'save as' a new file. You should have an option to lower the quality. You can knock it down quite a bit, an 80x80 file doesnt show the loss in quality much if at all.

I lowered the quality all the way to 0 and it still tells me my file is 9.6 KB. And my file isn't even 80x80...

Here's basically what I want:

HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO | PHOTOBUCKET ERROR IMAGE

Red-white gradient, size 12 font (Bickley Script), and a black border (about 1 pixel). I bump the quality down to 0 and it's still too big.

Strip the EXIF, that is probably what is pushing it over. I think there is a box you can uncheck to get rid of it. Or try the 'save for web' option.

Well the Photobucket option worked. It isn't as sharp (font) as I'd like so I'll work on stripping the EXIF and see if that helps but at least I found a method that does work. Thanks, you two.
