Maybe so...but the Sigma utilizes a rear focus system.....so that should help minimize the amount of glass that's actually moving.

Good point. If it's as good as the 50/1.4 and as fast-focusing as the Canon 85/1.8...wow.

Don't hold your breath, guessing it will be much slower.

Yeah that's my realistic guess too, but I'm still hoping ;)

It doesn't look like the Sigma 8-16mm lens will take filters...

Beautiful! How long did it take for the SIGMA 50 to be released for sale after it was announced? I can't wait to read the reviews and see samples from it.

I'm guessing that 85/1.4 is a mock-up, because there doesn't seem to be any anti-reflective coating on the lens surfaces.

It was announced around the same time..March and I bought a copy the first week it was released and I believe that was like the first week or so of July

I've been taking a "sabbatical" for over 6 months now for lens comparisons. But this new surge of lenses announced recently has me tempted to do something. The question is: when will these lenses be available?

I'm very interested in the Sigma 17-50 OS HSM and how it fares against the Canon 17-55 IS. The 85mm EX also intrigues me quite a bit. We'll have to wait and see! ;)

Yes, I would like to see how good the 85mm is , and also the Bigma II.
That 8-16mm might be nice also.

Nah, sounds like a fraternity reunion. :)

That's a mouthful, a good one though. Any more suggestions? :)

keeps everyone guessing about the price, focus speed, IQ, etc. hence...

Yup, like the TS-E 17mm, it has the Marty Feldman front element.

I've based more than one lens purchase on your reviews Jojo...You do an excellent job and I respect your unbiased opinion.....I'd love to see you get your hands on some of these...;)
EX85 vs 85L
17-50 os vs 17-55 IS
Maybe a re-do of the EX 50/1.4 using a "good" (perhaps mine?) copy of the EX vs the 50L
Anyways....just thinking out loud

There is, it can be hard to tell with Sigma sometimes...look at the 50mm f/1.4 here
