Hey,

I need some advise for dual-monitor setup for photo/video editing.

Currently I'm running a dual monitor setup, my primary being a 19" generic crappy monitor, and secondary a 15" Samsung Syncmaster.

The syncmaster is nice, colours are good. But it's just too small to buy another.

The best size to me is 2x 20", (I could go to 19).
I can't afford to pay a lot, especially as I'm buying 2. So try reccomend more 'best value' rather than 'best for the job' ;)

Thanks for suggestions!

I am using a HP2207 with nice results. It's 22". Not a "Pro" editing monitor, but I have nice results at the printer after editing 99% of the time.

Edit: It may be discontinued and replaced by THIS (external link) model now. Which looks even better.

A single 2408wfp or u2410. Why bother with two identical monitors when it's so much easier to just use one of your current monitors vertically with the new one horizontal?

That or just get the 2209WA. smaller monitors just aren't worth the cost.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Well the 19" is too dodjy to use, and the Samsung won't work vertically I don't think.
Besides I need a correctly proportioned second monitor for video editing as the right monitor acts as the playback screen.

Then use the new monitor for playback and the old one for editing. You do not NEED two of the same (****ty TN) monitors, you really only need a properly calibrated playback monitor.

I see what you're saying, maybe I'll get one wide and keep the samsung as video playback.
I'll just have to live with the resolution difference.

Actually get the IPS 2209WA as playback, something else for anything else. The point is that your playback monitor is the better one (if you have two), the other monitor doesn't need to be great because it only deals with interface stuff. You don't care if the interface isn't perfect, it's only playback that you care about.
