I like the mood, but it took too long to find the dog.

Yeah,like trying to find Waldo.Maybe this one is better.

It would probably have benefited the image if you'd given the dog somewhere to go within the shot, rather than placing his nose at the far left of the image. As it is, the dog does not appear to be the subject, based on his position.

I agree,wish I had took it at a different vantage point.nonetheless I feel the mood needed to be shared.still improving on the composition aspect of the hobby..thank you both for the advice.

I end up with a lot of similar shots. A moment's hesitation is often the difference between what could have been a great shot for me and a shot that I tell people, "I was trying to do such-and-such, but this is what I got instead."

I think the second one is much better. It gives the dog some room to move in the frame. I really like the treatment on these photos great color choice. Lonely dog indeed.
