I was a little surprised to see a Super Hornet in the marking of VFA-106. All the ones we shot at El Centro were the F/A-18C and D models; legacy Hornets.

I Googled VFA-106 and determined the Gladiators are the fleet replacement squadron for the east coast, so it makes sense they would fly both Hornets and Super Hornets. They are based at NAS Oceana and were a little far from home at El Centro.
