Canon "L" Series Equivalent

Not quite sure if this question has been asked before, so here goes.

Do Sigma, Tamron, Tokina offer a lens equivalent to the Canon "L" series? A debatable subject no doubt.

Sigma's 'EX' designation is a similar marketing term to Canon's 'L'.

Tokina has ATX-Pro for their professional line, Tamron's 'SP' is supposed to be, but it's essentially put on every decent lens they make, so it doesn't mean a whole lot. Sigma's EX is their pro line, and the build is generally good there.

Tokina's ATX-Pro is really the only one of the three, though, that is easily every bit as good as the Canon L series in terms of build quality (and in some cases even better).

Optically, with the exception of a few of the best lenses from each of the three manufacturers, though, they aren't quite up to the Canon L series in performance. You have to go outside the Autofocus world to get lenses to mount on Canon cameras that regularly compete with the L series (and in some cases exceed the quality of the Ls). Lenses like Zeiss, Leica, certain Voigtlanders.
